Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st September)

Cap it off.

Well folks, the weekend is here and it's capping off (heh) a pretty interesting week in the world of Nintendo.

For starters, it's been a big one for the upcoming Switch successor. Many folks online thought that this would be 'the' week that Nintendo would finally reveal the new console, but alas, it wasn't to be. Instead, we got a glimpse at what might be with a series of renders and photos of unknown origin. Are they real? Are they fake? We still don't know for sure, but we're certainly intrigued.

All Three Atelier Ryza Games Land Optimisation Updates, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

A trio of patches.

In celebration of Atelier Ryza's fifth anniversary, Koei Tecmo has today released an optimisation update for all three games in the series. Yep, that means Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy and Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key — catchy little titles, aren't they? — all have some improvements in store.

The updates are generally a batch of small tweaks to each game, though there are a couple of standouts dotted in there too: the first game's patch finally adds an auto-save feature, while the second and third have each gained a 'Very Easy' mode in the update. Each title has also landed various fast-forward options and other small adjustments.

Late 3DS Tactical RPG 'Fragrant Story' Lands On Switch With 'Papaya's Path' DLC

Late 3DS Tactical RPG 'Fragrant Story' Lands On Switch With 'Papaya's Path' DLC

Out now!

One of the last games to launch on 3DS, Fragrant Story, has finally made it over to Nintendo Switch. Fragrant Story and Papaya's Path is now available on the Switch eShop and (as you might expect from that name) it packs in the base game and its 2023 DLC expansion too.

For those who missed this one when it launched on the 3DS in *checks notes* 2022, Fragrant Story is a tactical RPG inspired by the classics. Created by indie developer William Kage, this short-but-sweet Final Fantasy Tactics-style experience was a little too slight for our tastes at launch, but this Switch release extends the campaigns of both the base game and the DLC, beefing things up to a 10-hour story and a 30-hour 100% completion — not bad when you consider the original lasted us maybe five hours.
